Made this cascading card for my daughter's 31st birthday which was on Easter this year!

Used paper from my stash. I think it's SU dsp.

This time I used LeeAnn Greff's tutorial on her Flowerbug's Inkspot blog.

Distress inks: crushed olive and ripe persimmon

This card is for a friend. Again used paper from my stash.

Cascading Birthday Card for my Sister

Made this cascading card for my sister's birthday on Dec. 4th.

She loves afghan hounds so I used my 2 afghan hound stamps.

LeeAnn Greff has a nice cascading card tutorial on her Flowerbug's Inkspot blog.
I love how these cards stand upright when done.
They are fairly easy to make!
Even if you make a wrong cut, it's easy to disguise the error.
Can you see where I added a strip of paper to fix my mistaken cut?

Cascading Birthday Card

Made this birthday card for our daughter, whose birthday is today!

I hope my she doesn't mind me stamping her age, 33.

I am SOOOO HAPPY that she has blessed us with these 33 years!

We are going out to dinner with both of our daughters and their husbands tonight to celebrate! I can't wait!

Although I have made several cascading cards before, I referred to a tutorial.

Used Jan Farring's tutorial great tutorial. There are a few other tutorials listed on my old blog post here.

The paper I used was a thinner type and the back was tipping backward. 

So I reinforced the 2 back pieces with a strip of cardstock.

Maybe my add on pieces were too heavy or maybe I should have used a thicker cardstock.

Still on the Cascading Card theme, I saw this tutorial using 8-1/2 x 11 inch paper and had to give it a try.

Another Cascading Card

Cascading cards are very fun to make! I used some old Stampin' Up! double sided paper here.

Above you see the card open. Below, it's closed and ready to be placed in an envelope for mailing.

Made a "brad bow" ala Tim Holtz with some green tulle.

Cascading Card

I learned about the Cascading Card from Carla and Hetty over at the Yahoo Group, Enjoy Michael Strong Stamps.

 

Above, you see the card open. Below it is closed (kind of). It does flatten so you can place it in an envelope.

 

There are many CASCADING CARD tutorials online.  Jan Farring's tutorial shows an efficient way to proceed. Dr. Sonia's tutorial has a nice photo showing exactly where the cuts are to be made. Chris at Calla Lily Studio has a nice video tutorial and so does Frenchie. I have lots of double sided paper and hope to make more cascading cards!

Stamps: Michael Strong's Mini Cloisonne Pets and Mini Cloisonne Wings (butterfly) I love Mike's stamps!! The rubber makes great impressions and works well with distress inks.
Sentiment: Stampin' Up!
Distress inks: rusty hinge for cat, frayed burlap for dog and shabby shutters for butterfly, walnut for sentiment
Clear Embossing powder. I just love how the distress inks can be embossed!
