Stampfest at Lynette's July 10, 2024

Lynette, Don and I spent the day together on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. We walked to Pita, Pita, a new restaurant nearby and  had a delicious lunch. Then Lynette and I spent several hours stamping. We always have a great time together!

Here are the cards we made. Remember, you can click on any image and see a larger version. 

Our inspiration came from cards made by members of the Gina K Designs & StampTV Friends Facebook Group.

The sailboat and map card was inspired by one of Sheri West Harris' beautiful series of cards. The boat and birds are from Gina K's Time to Coast stamp set. The map background stamp is from Lynette's stash. Tag die from her stash too.

Inks: 

Versafine onyx black

Gina K's ocean mist, sea glass and powder blue blended on the map background; tranquil teal for the sailboat and birds.

This beach scene card was inspired by Tracy Renner's beautiful beach cards. We tore an oval in a 4 x 5-1/4 inch piece of printer paper to mask the scene. Then used a  cardstock to mask the sky, the sea and the sand, using blending brushes to add Gina K inks...

ocean mist for the clouds, using Gina's method of torn paper for the clouds.

We used some stamps from Lynette's stash:

Waves using Gina's turquoise sea ink

Seagrasss from Stampscapes using black ink

Sand Hill stamp which we stamped in sandy beach, giving the sand some texture. Then we added texture with a dotted stamp with vintage photo or tea dye ink.

The rocks in the background were stamped with Lynette's Stampin' Up!'s Waterfront set in Versafine onyx black ink. We drew black lines at the horizon and black lines in the sand adding bits of "seagrass" here and there and some hills. We also drew the birds in freehand. Later we noticed that Gina's Time to Coast stamp set had a similar bird stamp!

This sea card was inspired by Debra Ringler-Couch's beautiful card. We punched a circle from cardstock (a scant 2" in diameter). Placed that down first, with a little washi tape on the back-press the washi tape on cloth a few times to make it less sticky. Then we added another mask to block out the sky so we could add color to the sea. We used Gina K's powder blue with a blending brush. Then we covered the sea and added wild dandelion yellow ink with a blending brush as shown. 

We stamped the boat after removing the masks. But we should have added a little bit of blue to the sea part of the circle, masking the sky before stamping the boat. 

We stamped the boat, the rocks , the birds and the sentiment (mine) with Versafine onyx black ink. Then we added the lines for waves and at the horizon with a fine point black marker. 

We had a great time making cards and visiting! We always do!

Time to Coast Cards

 

I had so much fun making these seaside cards with Gina K's Time To Coast stamp set and her cool window dies from the Master Layouts 5 die set.  

This was my first card. On a quarter sheet of white cardstock, I stamped the lighthouse with my Misti using Marvy #1 black ink for all 3 cards. The lighthouse, clouds and rocks are one stamp. 

I should have cut out a mask for the clouds and lighthouse before blending the colors of the sky!

I used sticky notes at the horizon line, to separate the sky from the ocean.  Using blending brushes, I added ink to the sky starting at the horizon and going upward with the following: 

distress spiced marmalade

distress scattered straw

Gina K ocean mist

Gina K blue lagoon

distress faded jeans at the top. 

For the ocean I covered the sky at the horizon using sticky notes, applying distress oxide salty ocean with a blending brush.

Then I colored the lighthouse red and the tops of the rocks grey using "Simply" Daler Rowney colored pencils. 

Used black cardstock to frame the lighthouse piece and then attached to a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" white card.

For this card and the next one, I made a mask to cover the clouds and lighthouse, so my clouds stayed white. I also used sticky notes at the horizon line to mask the ocean. 

Using blending brushes, I added ink to the sky starting at the horizon and going upward with the following:

distress faded jeans.

For the ocean I used distress salty ocean (not the oxide this time). 

In addition to the "Simply" Daler Rowney red and grey colored pencils used in the previous card,  I also used a Jane Davenport colored pencil called "ink" to add shading to the clouds where there were "lines". 

I made the window using white cardstock and Gina K's faux woodgrain technique explained on  her  Sunset Window Scene with Master Layouts 5 - Stamp and Chat Live Replay. The woodgrain appears almost like magic! Love this technique.  For the window, I used distress pumice stone on a quarter sheet of cardstock to create faux woodgrain. Then I cut Gina's frame and rectangle from the Master Layouts 5 dies set. 

For the scene behind the window,  I used the same method for the sky previously described, except I used these colors:

distress dried marigold

distress scattered straw

Gina K ocean mist

distress faded jeans

I used a Faber Castell #152 colored pencil to add blue to the ocean. 

I followed Gina's Creating an Ink Blended Window Scene - Stamp and Chat Live Replay very helpful for details in positioning the window over the scene as well as Gina's blending ideas. 

Used Gina K's scalloped rectangle (3.85" x 5") from Gina's Master Layouts 4 die set to cut the blue layer behind the window.

Gina K Time To Coast Kit

Made these cards with Gina K's Time to Coast Card kit. This is the first card kit I've ever purchased. I think it was a good deal. I always love making flower cards...and I think the water scene stamps will be very fun to use for a long time. I enjoy watching Gina K's videos and find myself wanting to try the techniques she shares. Also, it is inspiring to see cards made by members of Gina's Facebook page, Gina K & Stamp TV Friends. Gina has live videos as well as a library of them on her YouTube Channel that's called Gina K Designs.

This was a quick and easy card using Gina K's  Sketched Flowers and Enjoyable Greetings stamp sets. I love how the inside part of the flower is a separate stamp. 

Inks: Gina K blue lagoon, distress mustard seed, Stampin' Up! wild wasabi, Versamark (with white PSX embossing powder)

Scalloped layer is cut with a scalloped rectangle die in Gina K's master layouts 4.

This is my second frame card using Gina K's Master Layouts 5 dies set. Just to clarify, Gina K's Master Layouts 5 dies set is NOT included with the Time to Coast Card Kit. I am very happy that I splurged and bought it! 

I made the faux wood finish described in Gina K's YouTube: Sunset Window Scene with Master Layouts 5 - Stamp and Chat Live Replay.

The layer behind the window is about 3-1/8 x 4-1/4". I made a few pencil marks on it so I could see where the window layer sits. 

Working from the bottom up, I masked an area that would be water. Applied Gina K's blue lagoon with blending brushes. Then moved the mask to cover the blue, I applied distress dried marigold ink above the "water". That seemed too light, so switched to distress abandoned coral. Then applied distress shaded lilac; then Stampin' Up brilliant blue. 

Using my Misti, I tested out the placement of the lighthouse stamp before inking it with Memento tuxedo black ink and stamping. Added the two larger birds by stamping with an acrylic block. 

Using colored pencils, I added red to the lighthouse and side building and grey to the tops of the rocks.

Used foam tape to attach the window to the scene layer.  Used the scallop rectangle from Gina K's Master layouts 4 for the grey-blue layer. Used Gina K's connect glue to adhere to the white card base.

I stamped the lighthouse image with the misti before adding color on this card. This card layout is the same as the frame card above it. 

Used Gina K's tranquil teal for the water and distress dried marigold for the sky.

I made a "sun" stencil using the plain circle from Gina K's Master Layouts 5 die set. Placed that on the layer and sponged distress dried marigold through the piece cardstock with the circle removed. Then I tried to make rays by sponging next to strips of cardstock. I did not get it quite right. Need to take a closer look at one of Gina's video tutorials. I do not have her sunshine stencil...yet! 

As in the previous card, I colored the lighthouse and building red and the clouds and tops of the rocks with grey.

Painted Blossoms Cards

My Gina K order arrived this week. This card is made with the free stamp set, Painted Blossoms. The scalloped layer is cut from Gina's die from Master Layouts 4. Used Stampin' Up's so saffron, certainly celery and wild wasabi inks. Used Tombow brown marker  #977 to color in the center of the coneflowers.

I saw Gina K make a card like this on her Stamp and Chat Live Replay for Sunset Window Scene with Master Layouts 5.  It was very fun watching the video a second time and working on this card with Gina! The faux wood finish is very easy to create. You can use whatever ink color you wish! Before cutting out the window frame, I started with a piece of cardstock, 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches. Scored it lengthwise about every inch. With direct to paper technique swiped with my distress weathered wood inkpad to give it a little bit of color and texture. I didn't have all the ink colors that Gina used. From the bottom up, I used blending brushes to apply these ink colors:

Stampin' Up-groovy guava then distress worn lipstick. I chose distress shaded lilac for the next color, but I was supposed to use Gina's turquoise sea-which I actually have! So, I bushed the turquoise sea over a lot of the lilac I had already applied.  Next I used Stampin' Up's blue bayou, but that was too grey. Switched to distress stormy sky. No,  that wasn't right either. Finally used distress faded jeans for the top layer. 

Stamped the flowers and leaves from Gina K's Painted Blossoms set. 

On the top area of blue I added some wink of stella for some shine, but it doesn't show on this photo.

The sweet friend sentiment is from Gina K's Enjoyable Greetings stamp set. I stamped with versamark then embossed with PSX white embossing powder. 

It was very fun playing with these dies and creating the multi colored background. Looking forward to playing with the rest of Gina K's Time to Coast card kit.
