Thanksgiving Sprig Cards

I keep my cards simple when I make more than a few. This year's Thanksgiving card was inspired by a beautiful card by Debbie Gaudin shared on the Gina K Designs & StampTV Friends Facebook Group. Thank you Debbie for such beautiful inspiration!

I cut a circle mask and then I stamped freehand using Gina K's Grateful Greenery Mini set.  The stitched circle is from Gina's Master Layouts 5.

Inks:

Gina K grass green, fresh asparagus, honey mustard, turquoise sea

Distress gathered twigs, brushed corduroy, wild honey, fossilized amber, twisted citron

The brown sprig is from Gina K's Original Wreath Builder set.

Autumn Leaves Cards for Thanksgiving

I made very simple Thanksgiving cards using an old Stampin' UP! set called Day of Gratitude. My inspiration is from this card by Brian King.

I played around with some of the colors. Here you see the distress twisted citron and spiced marmalade.

I decided I liked the distress crushed olive and wild honey instead. Also used rusty hinge and brushed corduroy. The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I am thankful for so many blessings...most of all the blessings of family, friends and health. Wishing you a very special Thanksgiving!

Thursday Card of the Day

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today's card features Michael Strong's Cloisonne Leaves stamp.
My inspiration is from Patty Bennett's card.

Stamped Mike's smaller leaf in distress inks: crushed olive, barn door, frayed burlap and carved pumpkin. Fussy cut the leaves and sponged the edges. Used Tim Holtz' Sizzix Thankful embossing folder which I sponged with dried marigold distress ink.

Stamped the sentiment in Versafine onxy black using Stampin' Up!'s Day of Gratitude stamp. Punched with a 2 inches wide x 1.5 inches high oval punch. Sponged the edges in distress carved pumpkin ink. Tied twine around the Thanksgiving embossed layer.

Thanksgiving Pumpkin Harvest Cards

Hello friends! It has been a long time since I have posted! A lot has been going on with family, mostly with my dear father, who has had lots of health issues. He is doing pretty well right now considering his age-88 years.

My husband and I did manage to take a two week vacation out west, which was refreshing and wonderful!!!

I had not planned to make Thanksgiving cards today, but was inspired by my friend Hetty! Thanks so much! It was fun and relaxing to play with my paper and inks!

I decided to use bright colors...ripe persimmon, twisted citron and spiced marmalade, sponging them on the cool Tim Holtz/Sizzix Thankful texture fades (I always just call them embossing folders!). And I just had to use my Michael Strong's Pumpkin Harvest stamp set. Love how one of the pumpkins is a "Jackie Lantern" for Halloween, and the other two pumpkins can be used on fall cards. Here you see the small plain pumpkin. The Happy Thanksgiving sentiment is from Hero Arts. Used Versafine Black Onyx for the black stamping. Added green fun fur fibers from my stash.

After stamping Mike's pumpkin vine in distress twisted citron I colored in select areas with markers. I I don't have a vertical "happy thanksgiving" stamp, so I wrote it myself. Used dimensional foam to attach the pumpkins on the cards.

 

I used a marker to ink the "happy" and "thanksgiving" separately on this card because I didn't have enough space to stamp the whole sentiment.

 These 2 cards are unusual in the way the yellow layer of paper is adhered to the back of the front. It's easier to see what I'm describing if you look at the photo below.

Here is a picture of the inside of the card.

I attached the yellow layer with TomBow Mono multi-liquid glue adhesive. It does not seem to warp the paper as much as my other favorite glue, Scotch Quick Dry Tacky glue.

I wish I knew the name of this kind of layering in cardmaking. It's kind of nice because the inside right panel is white, all ready for stamping the sentiment and writing notes.

Card Captain Day 2

Tuesday's card features Michael Strong's cloisonne pumpkin,
a free digital image.
I printed Mike's pumpkin on lighter weight card stock with the laser printer.
Once thoroughly dry, I used an aqua painter dipped in inks to add color.
Used bister papers from yesterday,
embossing them with the Sizzix Thankful set
which includes the Rickety Fence.
Pieces were fussy cut as shown.
I added punched leaves and a mini tag,
sponging inks on the edges of the layers.
INKS:
Versafine onxy black
Stampin' Up-pumpkin pie, old olive
Distress-wild honey, spiced marmalade, tea dye

Card Captain, Day 1, Nov. 17, 2014

 This week I am card captain at the Enjoy Michael Strong Stamps Yahoo Group.

Today I have two cards to share.

Here I'm using Michael Strong's Mini Flower and his Leaf stamp.
For my background I started by sprinkling some bister granules on my craft sheet.

Spritzed them with water and placed my paper onto the color on the craft sheet.

Let it dry thoroughly, then dry embossed with the Sizzix Thankful folder.

Used a distress tool to fray the edges, then sponged edges with distress ink-forest moss.

INKS:

Distress-dried marigold, wild honey, forest moss

Mike's mini flower stamped in distress dried marigold and wild honey.

Mike's leave stamped in distress peeled paint.

Velvety fiber tied on bottom.

I had some left over "bister and water solution" on my craft pad 

so I kept making bister backgrounds with scraps of paper.
INKS:
Distress-forest moss, rusty hinge, dried marigold and wild honey.
Added green gemstone to the flowers and wrapped fibers around the fold of the card.

Bister Thanksgiving Card

This bister background was made with an assortment of left-over bister granules.

I emptied the remaining granules of some bister samples onto a craft sheet, 

then spritzed with water.

A 4 x 5-1/4" piece of cardstock was placed on the dissolved bister water.

Once dry, I dry embossed it with the Sizzix Thankful texture fades folder.

Distressed the edges with a tool, then sponged with spun sugar ink.

Attached this layer to a card made with light pink cardstock.

Added a home made lace flower and some fibers.

The Hero Arts " happy thanksgiving" sentiment was stamped with Stampin' Up! really rust ink.

Then I sponged  distress spun sugar and some SU creamy caramel on the edges.
