Stampfest At Lynette's August 20, 2025

On Wednesday, Aug. 20th, Don and I visited Lynette and had a great time.  We all had lunch at Naf Naf's and then Lynette and I had a wonderful time stamping. Lynette had lots of great ideas! 

Lynette found great inspiration for the Altenew Leaf Canopy stamp set on Pinterest. The title of the Pinterest page is, "Colorful Leaf Stamping". This card inspired the next seven cards below: the three brick embossed layer cards and the four cards mounted on orange cardstock. 

The first three cards were initially a trial on some odd colored watercolor paper from Lynette's stash. We lightly spritzed the Altenew Leaf Canopy stamp which was on an acrylic block. Then we colored the leaves with Lynette's wonderful Caran D'Ache watercolor crayons, using a few different colors. Then we lightly spritzed again, before stamping on the watercolor paper. Adding the color from the watercolor stamp was a fun way to stamp the leaves! The three cards above started out as a test, but we liked the result. We added them on top of a "brick" panel made with the Sizzix Tim Holtz Bricked embossing folder.

Leaf Canopy on orange cardstock:

For the four cards above, we did the same technique, using different colors from Lynette's Caran D'Ache watercolor crayons. When dry, we used a dotted stamp from Stamps by Judith with Gina K Peach Bellini ink to created a splattered look. Then we mounted the watercolor layer onto orange cardstock.

Kraft cards:

Our inspiration for these kraft cards is from an Altenew blog hop back in 2018. Scroll down to card #3, #4 and #6 to see Erum Tasneem's card. We used Brilliance ink on the leaf canopy stamp.

For these cards we were inspired by Erum Tasneem's No-Line Watercoloring using Leaf Canopy Stamp Set by Altenew, July 29, 2018. On watercolor paper we stamped the outline of the leaves with distress antique linen ink. Them used Caran D'Ache watercolor crayons and a water brush to add color within the stamped antique linen leaves. For splatters, we used that dotted stamp from Stamps by Judith. We mounted the watercolor layer on kraft paper, then on a white card.

Lynette helped me to copy this card design that she made previously. When I saw her card, I fell in love with it. 

We inked one side of Gina K Tapestry embossing folder with brilliance blue ink....the side where the images are raised, I think. .

We stamped the Stampin Up Marvelous Morning Glory flowers with SU Tempting turquoise, stamping off three times for the lighter shade (the fuller stamp). Then stamped the inside details part with full Tempting Turquoise.

Stampfest at Lynette's January 17, 2025

Don and I visited Lynette Friday, January 17, 2025. We walked to Sugar Bowl restaurant, enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather. Two of us had the delicious Hobo breakfast skillet and one had a big hamburger meal with fries. Plenty to eat and lots of leftovers to bring home.

Lynette found a great card idea created by Ceal Pritchett for My Sweet Petunia. Lynette used her Waffle Flower Postage Collage Die to make two postage layers. We then cut the individual "stamps" by using scissors to cut on the perforation lines. Voilá 6 stamps for each of us. We decided we could each make two cards.

Colored pencils

We had so much fun making flowers on watercolor paper at our May 7, 2024 Stampfest that we 

re-visited Amy William's technique Water Coloring Made Easy! This time, we used Lynette's watercolors from her stash. She had made a palette of dried tube watercolors on a plastic covered tray with round "wells". It worked great with a waterbrush...and we used an old rag to absorb extra water from the brush when needed.

Lynette's four panels are first. Then the next image of five panels is mine. 

We were inspired by some Pinterest pins to add more to the stems this time...extra lines and dots and lots of little leaves. We plan to add the panels to a card base.

Stampfest at Lynette's May 7, 2024

Lynette and I had a wonderful time stamping on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. We had lots of inspiration from cards we saw online. Thanks to those who share their artwork!  

Our "torn book and ledger" card was fun to make. Inspired by Natasha Foote's YouTube #991...and a card posted by a member of Natasha's Facebook group. It's called Come crafting with Natasha. Thank you to Natasha and the FB member for sharing their artistic talent!

I worked on the background pieces, stamping with a Hero Arts ledger stamp, using an old book page,  tearing and sponging distress gathered twigs ink on the edges of both.  I found a piece of darker brown cardstock that was already stamped with a tiny script. I trimmed it to fit the card and  added flourishes from Stampin' Up's Carte Postal, using Brilliance white ink. 

Lynette worked on the flowers and leaves, stamping Stampin' Up's Secret Garden flowers in versafine black onyx onto a soft buttercream linen cardstock. Then she did some ink blending with distress lemonade and honey to add more color. The leaves were stamped in Gina K's jelly bean green.

Inspired by a card Lynette found online created by Scrappin' and Stampin' in GJ. Scroll down-the card is toward the bottom of that webpage.

We cut book paper, 2-3/8 wide by 5-1/2 long. And added a piece of black card stock to back it. 

We used the silhouette stamp in Stampin' Up's Just Believe set. 

The green butterflies were die cut from a  Stampin Up's Embosslit called Beautiful Wings

We cut our own banner and stamped with sentiments.

We used Versafine Onyx Black ink.

We really like the big dragonfly blueprints image from Tim Holtz's old Stampers Anonymous Classic Favorites "Classics #1 SCF001" cling rubber stamp. We created a stenciled background with

TH Mesh & Typo stencil from TH Mixed-Media Stamps & Stencil set THMM121.

Then stamped the dragonfly with Versafine onyx black ink.

Inks used to blend over the stencils: distress broken china, wild honey, peeled paint.

Had so much fun with the stenciled background and the large dragonfly that we made a second, portrait version, which was inspired by Rita Wright's Masked Butterfly card.

Stamped the dragonfly with Versafine onyx black.

We were inspired to make these watercolor flowers after seeing Amy Williams' YouTube: Water coloring made EASY! We used Jane Davenport's set of 12 watercolors-brights pallette. I had already played with this technique using reinkers, which you can see here. We used water brushes. However, next time I would like to try using a paintbrush.

Here you see Gina K's 4 x 4 inch Happy Hydrangea stamped image from using Lynette's luxurious Caran D'Asche watercolor crayons. 

I have to tell you about the right layer. We spritzed the stamp first then added the watercolor crayons and spritzed it before stamping. That image was too watery. We then worked on the left panel, in which we did NOT give it the 2nd spritz of water after coloring the stamp with the watercolor crayons.  That came out better!

We decided to give the right panel another chance...spritzed the stamp and added watercolor crayon (2nd time)...but this time we DID NOT SPRITZ the stamp a second time. Lynette stamped the hydrangea right on top of the stamped image and I think it looks great now!

I hope that the descriptions make sense. It can be handy for us to look back and see what we did to create these cards and panels.

Dina's Handwritten Heart Collage Cards

I am on a roll and having fun making my own backgrounds with distress ink.

Smooshed color onto an acrylic block, added a bit of water using my water brush and painted the colors onto white cardstock. It actually works better with watercolor paper because the regular card stock does not hold up well to a lot of brushing. I used distress fossilized amber, worn lipstick and picked raspberry.

Allowed to dry and stamped with Dina Wakley's Handwritten Heart Collage stamp using Versafine Onyx Black ink. After the stamping was dry I fussy cut along the edge of the stamped border. Then dry embossed the layer with Park Lane's Flower Repeat embossing folder 

and sponged distress ink onto the edges and over parts of the top.

 Wrapped twine around the layer and tied with a bow before adhering to a kraft card.

This one became a thank you card--used Stampin' Up! sentiment, fussy cut with a deckle edge scissors.

Mason Jar Bouquet

These cards were inspired by Lindsay Weirich, 
the Frugal Crafter, and her Happy Heart Bouquet Card Tutorial.

I used 2 strips of printed papers from my stash for the background.
Die cut the oval from scraps of watercolor paper.
After stamping the vase, leaves and flowers
I used a water brush to pull color from the stamped vase
to add more blue color as shown.

The background for this card was made with embossing folder stamping technique-with pearlized acrylic paint from my stash. I like these two tutorials:

In my rush to get this card finished for a belated birthday,
 I forgot to add blue color underneath the mason jar.

Mini Stampfest with Lynette

Lynette and I had a little time to stamp last Wednesday, August 29.
We each made two cards. We were inspired by a card I saw online-I think on Pinterest. It was created by Tami Hewlett and she has a blog, Swimming in Stamps but I cannot find the card any longer.

We used watercolor paper to stamp the flowers and leaves from a Stampin' Up! sell-a-bration set called What I Love. My friend Hetty gave that set to me way back in 2017! We used distress broken china ink for the outline flower and tumbled glass for the solid part. For the leaves we used Stampin' Up! wild wasabi ink.  After stamping we used a water brush to try and create some watercolor effects. We did not get as much movement of color as we hoped on this first attempt.

So we each made a second card, stamping more quickly and then using the water brush. Not sure

We used Versafine onyx black ink for the sentiments, fussy cutting the banner edges of the paper. We sponged the layer with broken china ink.

Drawing a Little Beach Scene

I really like the Waterfront cards Lynette and I made at our Waterfront stampfest in June. Since I don't have the Waterfront set (by Stampin' Up!) I decided to try to sketch the scene. Used watercolor pencils by Stampin' Up, a set of 24. My dear neighbor Mary very generously gave this set to me. I really like the variety of colors.

In this card, I was hesitant to use an aqua painter after drawing it. I was afraid of messing up the drawing. But you can see another card below where I decided to give that a try.

I do not have a waves embossing folder like Lynette's so I used my "We are memory Keepers" TIDE folder. Also added crochet thread from my stash.

This card will be an anniversary card. It kind of reminds me of Hawaii. As you can see, it's pretty much the same as the card above. However, this time I used an aqua painter/water brush on the watercolor pencil drawing. The color became darker and more vibrant. I like it better this way. What do you think?

June 6 Waterfront Stampfest at Lynette's

Wednesday, June 6th was a fun and relaxing day!

Lynette and I had a great time playing with her new stamp set, Waterfront from Stampin' Up!

We found a lot of inspiration online!

Ashley Fifer of Stamped AF inspired this card.
Ashley has a wonderful Video tutorial there.
Using the aqua painter/water brush here and on all the cards,
gave the stamped images a watercolor look.
We used watercolor paper from Lynette's stash for all the cards shown today.
Used embossing folder stamping technique on the fronts of these two cards
by adding distress frayed burlap ink directly onto the sizzix embossing folder.
I used woodgrain and Lynette used wood planks.
Our panel was stamped with Stampin Up!'s Waterfront stamp
using distress pumice stone for the mountains
and SU so saffron for the sun.
The trees were made with SU wild wasabi and limeade.

Sage Kimball of Stampin Madly inspired this card.
Used SU almost amethyst for mountains,
distress tea dye and vintage photo for the ground,
distress broken china for the river,
SU soft sky for the sky,
distress forest moss for the trees.

Amy Koenders of Stamp with Amy K inspired this beach scene using Waterfront.
Used Fiskars dry embossing plate "Ocean" (waves) to emboss the blue layer.
The circle is a Stampin Up! Stitched Shapes Framelits die.
Used distress tea dye for the sand,
distress broken china for the water
Su so saffron for the sun (and dots on my card)
SU lucky limeade for the palm fronds
SU close to cocoa for the tree trunks.
Added some twine over the ocean waves layer.

Our inspiration for this card came from Pinterest
The card there made by Brook Beach, but the link did not go to her blog
and I was unable to find her webpage.
We changed the card using a kraft paper and a cuttlebug happy birthday embossing folder
for our 1st layer.
Lynette cut the squares with her SU Stitched Shapes framelits die.
Used distress vintage photo for the mountains,
distress peeled paint for the grass/plains
distress forest moss for the trees.
Stamped the Printworks "happy birthday" sentiment in forest moss.

We both thought the SUJ Waterfront set was so versatile and we thank
