Stampfest at Lynette's May 7, 2024

Lynette and I had a wonderful time stamping on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. We had lots of inspiration from cards we saw online. Thanks to those who share their artwork!  

Our "torn book and ledger" card was fun to make. Inspired by Natasha Foote's YouTube #991...and a card posted by a member of Natasha's Facebook group. It's called Come crafting with Natasha. Thank you to Natasha and the FB member for sharing their artistic talent!

I worked on the background pieces, stamping with a Hero Arts ledger stamp, using an old book page,  tearing and sponging distress gathered twigs ink on the edges of both.  I found a piece of darker brown cardstock that was already stamped with a tiny script. I trimmed it to fit the card and  added flourishes from Stampin' Up's Carte Postal, using Brilliance white ink. 

Lynette worked on the flowers and leaves, stamping Stampin' Up's Secret Garden flowers in versafine black onyx onto a soft buttercream linen cardstock. Then she did some ink blending with distress lemonade and honey to add more color. The leaves were stamped in Gina K's jelly bean green.

Inspired by a card Lynette found online created by Scrappin' and Stampin' in GJ. Scroll down-the card is toward the bottom of that webpage.

We cut book paper, 2-3/8 wide by 5-1/2 long. And added a piece of black card stock to back it. 

We used the silhouette stamp in Stampin' Up's Just Believe set. 

The green butterflies were die cut from a  Stampin Up's Embosslit called Beautiful Wings

We cut our own banner and stamped with sentiments.

We used Versafine Onyx Black ink.

We really like the big dragonfly blueprints image from Tim Holtz's old Stampers Anonymous Classic Favorites "Classics #1 SCF001" cling rubber stamp. We created a stenciled background with

TH Mesh & Typo stencil from TH Mixed-Media Stamps & Stencil set THMM121.

Then stamped the dragonfly with Versafine onyx black ink.

Inks used to blend over the stencils: distress broken china, wild honey, peeled paint.

Had so much fun with the stenciled background and the large dragonfly that we made a second, portrait version, which was inspired by Rita Wright's Masked Butterfly card.

Stamped the dragonfly with Versafine onyx black.

We were inspired to make these watercolor flowers after seeing Amy Williams' YouTube: Water coloring made EASY! We used Jane Davenport's set of 12 watercolors-brights pallette. I had already played with this technique using reinkers, which you can see here. We used water brushes. However, next time I would like to try using a paintbrush.

Here you see Gina K's 4 x 4 inch Happy Hydrangea stamped image from using Lynette's luxurious Caran D'Asche watercolor crayons. 

I have to tell you about the right layer. We spritzed the stamp first then added the watercolor crayons and spritzed it before stamping. That image was too watery. We then worked on the left panel, in which we did NOT give it the 2nd spritz of water after coloring the stamp with the watercolor crayons.  That came out better!

We decided to give the right panel another chance...spritzed the stamp and added watercolor crayon (2nd time)...but this time we DID NOT SPRITZ the stamp a second time. Lynette stamped the hydrangea right on top of the stamped image and I think it looks great now!

I hope that the descriptions make sense. It can be handy for us to look back and see what we did to create these cards and panels.

More Tim Holtz Wildflowers 2 Cards

 

This time I used white cardstock to die cut these flower from that old Tim Holtz Sizzix Wildflowers #2 Thinlits die set. To cut these easily I needed to put the die cut side up and add a cardboard shim. 

The backgrounds are a variation of my August 22 cards. Sadly, I needed a sympathy card.

With blending brushes, added Gina K Blue Lagoon and distress peeled paint inks to the flower die cuts.

Stampfest at Lynette's, June 16, 2023

Lynette and I spent a little time stamping on Friday, June 16. We used a Hero Arts Color Layering Village stamp set.  We were inspired by the sample card on the Hero Arts blog. I have had this stamp for some time. Glad to finally use it!

We used Lynette's Tim Holtz Stamp Platform  to stamp the village image. It was difficult to get the center of the image stamped well. When we went back a second time to press and try to get a good image, but had some blotching  and also a shift in the paper at one point. Maybe next time I'll bring my misti and we can compare it to the TH Stamp Platform.

Used Versafine onyx black ink to stamp the village outline. When dry we stamped the fill in stamp with Gina K wild dandelion ink, adding some Distress rusty hinge to just the edges. 

We made clouds using Gina K's technique with torn paper, ink and blending brush. Gina has a nice tutorial YouTube near the 5:45 minute mark of Peaceful Seaside Cards & Creating Your Own Cloud Stencil - Stamp and Chat Replay Used Stampin' Up bliss blue ink for our sky with the torn paper stencil we made.

For the column like trees and round shrubs, we used Gina K jelly bean green ink. On the more "solid" stamp we stamped off on scrap paper before stamping on our panel, to get a lighter shade of green.  Then we stamped the less "solid" stamp with the jelly bean green "full strength". 

We sponged distress tea dye ink around the village and the trees and shrubs.

The happy birthday sentiment from Gina K's Sketched Flowers set was stamped in Versafine onyx black ink.

Laura's card

This card is for the granddaughter of one of my dear friends. I plan to make a flamingo pillow case for the granddaughter. When I mentioned this project to Lynette, she pulled out two flamingo stamps!  I chose this stamp made by Rubber Stampede. Lynette also showed me a card she had made. I copied it and so this fun card went together very quickly.

The flamingos were stamped in Versafine onyx black ink and colored with colored pencils. 

The leaves were stamped in Stampin' Up's green galore and tempting turquoise ink.

The "sweet" stamp was stamped in Stampin' Up's positively pink.

Stampfest at Lynette's, March 27, 2023

Lynette and I spent the day together visiting, stamping...and we even took a little walk to a nice hamburger place for lunch. We had wonderful inspiration from Lisa Hetrick and Cat Tidwell for our cards.

Our flower outline cards were inspired by Gina K's Beautiful Moments stamp set designed by Lisa Hetrick.  If you scroll down that page, you will see Lisa's marvelous Free Sketch Idea Sheet for the Beautiful Moments stamp set. Great inspiration!

For our cards, we used a flower outline stamp from a Rhonna Farrer/Autumn Leaves set called Flower Stamps. Lynette added the flower sentiment from Hero Arts. 

Inks: Stampin' Up ballet blue and yo yo yellow.

I made the two cards shown above. The first card's sentiment is from Stampin' Up. I'm not sure the brand for the second sentiment.

For this card, we CASE'd Cat Tidwell's Hugs and Wildflowers card. Scroll down to the third card.

The stamps are from Gina K, designed by Lisa Hetrick. I recently bought this set on clearance for $9.

Inks: Gina K wild wisteria and fresh asparagus

We used an embossing stylus after inking the leaves to create the "line" in the center of each.

I used a birthday sentiment from Stampin' Up on my card, stamping with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

First Stampfest in the Condo

 

Lynette came over to visit us at the condo yesterday. It was her first visit here! We had a wonderful time visiting and stamping.  She graciously catered to my wish to make Valentines. She brought a big tablet of 12 x12" Valentine printed papers for us to use.

Lynette made these cards. The background and the "hugs and kisses" strips are from the printed papers she brought. The heart die cuts are from my stash.

The printed paper Lynette brought was perfect! I had been thinking of stamping my own background. Using her paper for backgrounds made this quick and easy. The Love stamp is from a small Hero Arts February stamp set.

Lynette left early. I continued working on my cards and  made four more cards.

Used a printed paper scrap from my stash for this background. The heart was cut with a Gina K Master Layouts 4 die. The sentiment is from Gina K's Fluttering Fall stamp set. I stamped with Distress Black Soot ink and used clear embossing powder on it.

Valentines 2022

Happy Valentine's Day! 

I made simple Valentine's cards this year. Was very happy to use an old Stampin' Up! set from 2001 called Thanks From The Heart. The two crocheted hearts in the image directly above were made using Sarah's free crochet instructions on her blog, Sarah Maker. The other crocheted and felt hearts have been around for a long time.

I stamped most of the jars with Gina K's ocean mist. I stamped a few jars with Gina K's bubblelgum pink and blue raspberry, SU's ballet blue and distress broken china. Most of the hearts were stamped in  passionate pink, but used bubblegum pink on a few. Sentiment on the front if from Hero Arts, Month February set.

Sentiment on the inside is from Stampin' Up's 2001 Love Always set.

Halloween Cards 2021

Happy Halloween!

Used the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Snarky Cat Halloween set, along with old book paper, stencils, distress inks and a favorite Hero Arts stamp & cut set, Ribbon Messages, for my friend's Halloween Birthday card!

I played with various stencils using distress carved pumpkin and crushed olive inks. The cats were stamped in Versafine onyx black ink, fussy cut and sponged with distress wilted violet. Cats eyes colored with yellow colored pencil.

Used various colored pencils to add a touch of color inside the card.

Wrinkle Free Distress Panels From My Stash

 Ran across some wrinkle free distress panels and made birthday cards with them, attaching to a dry embossed panel of cardstock.

Ink:  Marvy # 1 Black. I don't have a list of the inks used for the wrinkle free distress technique because these panels were from my stash.
