Stampfest at Lynette's January 17, 2025

Don and I visited Lynette Friday, January 17, 2025. We walked to Sugar Bowl restaurant, enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather. Two of us had the delicious Hobo breakfast skillet and one had a big hamburger meal with fries. Plenty to eat and lots of leftovers to bring home.

Lynette found a great card idea created by Ceal Pritchett for My Sweet Petunia. Lynette used her Waffle Flower Postage Collage Die to make two postage layers. We then cut the individual "stamps" by using scissors to cut on the perforation lines. Voilá 6 stamps for each of us. We decided we could each make two cards.

We had so much fun making flowers on watercolor paper at our May 7, 2024 Stampfest that we 

re-visited Amy William's technique Water Coloring Made Easy! This time, we used Lynette's watercolors from her stash. She had made a palette of dried tube watercolors on a plastic covered tray with round "wells". It worked great with a waterbrush...and we used an old rag to absorb extra water from the brush when needed.

Lynette's four panels are first. Then the next image of five panels is mine. 

We were inspired by some Pinterest pins to add more to the stems this time...extra lines and dots and lots of little leaves. We plan to add the panels to a card base.

Halloween Cards 2021

Happy Halloween!

Used the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Snarky Cat Halloween set, along with old book paper, stencils, distress inks and a favorite Hero Arts stamp & cut set, Ribbon Messages, for my friend's Halloween Birthday card!

I played with various stencils using distress carved pumpkin and crushed olive inks. The cats were stamped in Versafine onyx black ink, fussy cut and sponged with distress wilted violet. Cats eyes colored with yellow colored pencil.

Used various colored pencils to add a touch of color inside the card.

Time to Coast Cards

 

I had so much fun making these seaside cards with Gina K's Time To Coast stamp set and her cool window dies from the Master Layouts 5 die set.  

This was my first card. On a quarter sheet of white cardstock, I stamped the lighthouse with my Misti using Marvy #1 black ink for all 3 cards. The lighthouse, clouds and rocks are one stamp. 

I should have cut out a mask for the clouds and lighthouse before blending the colors of the sky!

I used sticky notes at the horizon line, to separate the sky from the ocean.  Using blending brushes, I added ink to the sky starting at the horizon and going upward with the following: 

distress spiced marmalade

distress scattered straw

Gina K ocean mist

Gina K blue lagoon

distress faded jeans at the top. 

For the ocean I covered the sky at the horizon using sticky notes, applying distress oxide salty ocean with a blending brush.

Then I colored the lighthouse red and the tops of the rocks grey using "Simply" Daler Rowney colored pencils. 

Used black cardstock to frame the lighthouse piece and then attached to a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" white card.

For this card and the next one, I made a mask to cover the clouds and lighthouse, so my clouds stayed white. I also used sticky notes at the horizon line to mask the ocean. 

Using blending brushes, I added ink to the sky starting at the horizon and going upward with the following:

For the ocean I used distress salty ocean (not the oxide this time). 

In addition to the "Simply" Daler Rowney red and grey colored pencils used in the previous card,  I also used a Jane Davenport colored pencil called "ink" to add shading to the clouds where there were "lines". 

I made the window using white cardstock and Gina K's faux woodgrain technique explained on  her  Sunset Window Scene with Master Layouts 5 - Stamp and Chat Live Replay. The woodgrain appears almost like magic! Love this technique.  For the window, I used distress pumice stone on a quarter sheet of cardstock to create faux woodgrain. Then I cut Gina's frame and rectangle from the Master Layouts 5 dies set. 

For the scene behind the window,  I used the same method for the sky previously described, except I used these colors:

distress dried marigold

distress scattered straw

Gina K ocean mist

distress faded jeans

I used a Faber Castell #152 colored pencil to add blue to the ocean. 

I followed Gina's Creating an Ink Blended Window Scene - Stamp and Chat Live Replay very helpful for details in positioning the window over the scene as well as Gina's blending ideas. 

Used Gina K's scalloped rectangle (3.85" x 5") from Gina's Master Layouts 4 die set to cut the blue layer behind the window.

Halloween Cards 2020

Here are some cards I made using the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Snarky Cat Halloween set and a few other stamps. I was inspired by creative artists Keisha Charles and Tami Bastiaans who share their ideas online! Thank you very much!

Just had to try a card like Keisha Charles snarky cat cards on her The PaperMint blog. I used blending brushes to add distress inks seedless preserves and twisted citron to the panel. Then used hickory smoke with stencils from my stash. The images were stamped with black soot.

The backgrounds for these cards were made with wrinkle free distress using distress stormy sky, peeled paint inks and a bit of Dylusions Sunshine (yellow)-unscrewed the sprayer and tapped it on the craft sheet between the blue and green colors. I avoid spraying those things...I am very messy! 

Stamped the stampscapes tree trunks with distress ground espresso, the birds (Lost and Found, a Tim Holtz acrylic set) with distress black soot. The cat was stamped in black soot as well as the sentiment. Used yellow and green colored pencils for the eyes.

I was inspired by Tami Bastiaans Plays Well With Paper card for this card. My card is so simple compard with Tami's. I like how Tami positioned the cat and  used the sentiment. I fussy cut the cat and pumpkin and attached them with foam tape.

Inks: distress carved pumpkin, black soot, gathered twigs, peeled paint.

Another card inspired by Tami Bastiaans. My card is very plain compared to Tami's. I love the way Tami created that swirly sky! I used watercolor paper for this. 

I did not have the moon stamp, so I traced a circle and added some dots and circles with fine point black PITT pen by Faber-Castell. Trees from Stampscapes and Stampin' Up!. All stamping with Versafine onyx black, letting it dry thoroughly. I used distress ink with an aqua brush/water brush to "paint" the background like Tami did. 

Distress inks: scattered straw, tumbled glass, broken china, faded jeans, peeled paint.

Used colored pencils to add color to the tree trunks, cat body and eyes.

Stampfest with Lynette December 18, 2019

Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year 2020!

Two weeks ago in mid-December, Lynette and I had a wonderful time stamping together. Here are our cards. We had fun playing with Lynette's Stampin' Up! All-Season Wreath set again. And we found lots of inspiration online.

Our inspiration came from Elaina Fuller's wreath card on Splitcoaststampers.

We stamped the wreaths in SU creamy caramel and the flowers in Tim Holtz distress oxide worn lipstick. Then we used colored pencils to color in some of the leaves.  Lynette used Dick Blick's olive green light colored pencil for leaves. I used that on one card and also Jane Davenport's emerald on the other card.

Not sure which brown Lynette used for stamping the vertical Happy Birthday...probably SU's close to cocoa. I used oxide worn lipstick on the Stampabilities Happy Birthday stamp.

Lynette had the wonderful idea to stamp the bow from the All-Seasons Wreath set, color it in with a pink Jane Davenport colored pencil called kiss kiss. Then we fussy cut the bow and applied it to our wreath with dimensional foam tape.

Verses Rubber Stamps Happy Birthday Vertical, Stampablities Happy Birthday 01 CR1011

Our snowflake wreath cards were inspired by a Pinterest pin card made by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek.

We used clear snowflake stamps from Lynette's stash. The larger blue snowflake was stamped with the misti. Then we added the smaller snowflake stamps on our own to fill in the spaces. 

I made my card as a birthday card. 

Lynette decided to wait before adding the sentiment.

Our winter scene card was inspired by Linda Dahlke's card who used Su's Snow Front set.

We used Lynette's Stampin' Up! Waterfront set.

We stamped with Mermaid Lagoon to give us the top of the snow mounds. 

Then we stamped the  trees with distress mowed lawn.

Our tree is Penny Black's Fantasy Tree, 3880K-we added color to just a portion of the stamp with Zig's Clean Color Real Brush marker, #062 Dark Brown before stamping.

We sponged the sky in distress stormy sky.

I stamped the Savvy Stamps Happy Birthday in distress mermaid lagoon.

Drawing with Grace, November 18, 2019

My sister Grace, and I spent some time together on Monday testing out art supplies.

Grace made this drawing of the Farnsworth House using colored pencils.

I revisited a stampfest project that Lynette and I worked on in October inspired by Heather Telford's  Lake Wanaka mountain scene card. This time I used Stampin Up watercolor pencils with an aqua painter/waterbrush.

Grace made these cool origami paper cranes with some printed papers that she gave me. When you hold onto the bottom, you can pull the tail to make the wings flutter.

Bird Talk Tag and Card

Just love these little birdies from Tim Holtz' Bird Talk clear stamp set.

My friend, Lynette, let me stamp up some on old book paper when I was at her house awhile ago.

Used her colored pencils to color them. Then they sat on my stamping table for a long time.

I found a partially made tag in my stash and used this birdie on it.

Using a recycled a coffee cup liner/wrapper, I cut my own little branch.

For the sky, I cut a my own cloud template, then sponged with distress broken china.

Here is a light purple card using another one of  Tim Holtz' Bird Talk Birds.

On each side of a white layer, I dry embossed a zig zag design

using Patterns & Stitches, a long narrow embossing folder by Tim Holtz/Sizzix.

Sponged with distress seedless preserves.

Created the same type of branch as in tag, added twine fibers and another Bird Talk birdie.

The sentiment is by Wendy Vecchi, A Form of Art-LCS048.

Coloring and Painting Scribbly Birds

Here are some Scribbly Bird cards inspired by Anneke De Clerck's bird card blog post 

and Dina Wakley's Media Painted Tag YouTube. 

 

 I embellished wrinkle free distress backgrounds from my stash:

sponged mermaid lagoon ink over a Tim Holtz' Honeycomb stencil,

stamped Tim's Bitty Grunge stamp with stormy sky.

I made my own 3 circle stencil with cardstock and a  5/8 inch punch

applying pearlescent white Adirondak acrylic paint through the circles with a paintbrush.

 

For the open circles, I used Dina's technique-

dab some acrylic paint on the bottom of a paint bottle and apply it to your piece. 

I also found the open side of one of the screw tops of the dabbers worked even better.

It's a pity my Adirondak paint dabbers are drying out before I can use them up.

 

For the Scribbly bird above, I used card stock, 

stamped it with a BoBunny text stamp in pumice stone.

Then on top of that, I stamped Dina's bird on top, using Versafine black onyx ink. 

When dry I used colored pencils to add color.

 Here are some photos of my work along the way.

 I tried Dina's method of dry painting the Scribbly birds, 

which have been stamped on old book paper.

I used red colored pencil for the tiny heart. She used paint. 

Afterward I outlined the heart with a Pitt Artist Pen 0.1 mm-Black India Ink.

Below are the 3 painted Scribbly birds.

 I added the sentiment from the set on some of my cards

cutting out the lines and attaching with Golden Soft Gel (Semi-Gloss) gel medium.

I used various fibers from by stash.

 

 Pulled out some strands of burlap, making circles to resemble a nest.

Another Lady Face Card

With colored pencils I sketched another "lady face"

A friend gave me the dry embossed background layer.

Card of the day-Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

Today's card of the day for the Enjoy Michael Strong Stamps Yahoo group

was inspired by a Hawaiian shirt I saw at Summerfest music festival last Wednesday.

As I was sitting waiting for the show to begin,

I pulled out a post it from my purse and made this sketch:

I thought Mike's mini flowers,  leaves and little fish from the mini creatures stamps

would be fun to use for my water scene.

I used colored pencils to draw the mountains, palm trees, shore and the water ripples.

The flowers, leaves and fish were stamped then fussy cut and attached with dimensional foam.

Added some gemstones to jazz up my simple card.

Stamps: Michael Strong

Inks: distress dried marigold, abandoned coral, shaded lilac and broken china.

SU certainly celery ink.

I'm not claiming to be an artist. 

I just had a lot of fun trying to sketch the scene and make a card later.

Maybe my feeble attempt will inspire someone else!
